Melanie J. Grassi

Melanie Grassi, University Place native for over 35 years, is a local business owner, Executive Director at The New School at Chambers Bay, Executive Pastor of OURCHURCH in University Place and widowed mother.

Education

Melanie attended Curtis High School and was a member of the first graduating class of Tacoma School of the Arts. She then went on to attend Tacoma Community College and Global Bible University.
Melanie is currently a licensed and ordained Minister.
FEMA Disaster Relief and Response Certification.

Melanie Grassi, daughter of former University Place mayor and city councilman Ken Grassi, who passed away in September of 2021, was a two-term mayor for the City of University Place and served on the city council since incorporation. 

Over his years of dedication to the City of University Place, Ken was the visionary behind Chambers Bay, University Place Town Center and Market Square development, as well as University Place’s city parks and beautification projects. In addition to also serving as a Chamber of Commerce Member and former President of the Downtown Merchants Association, Ken was also the founder and operator of a thriving local business for over 45 years. Now, Melanie has announced her run for University Place’s City Council in order to continue her father’s legacy, while also working to continue implementing the city’s needs.
